Bio: As the son of a wealthy businessman, Pegasus J. Crawford had every advantage in life. He traveled far and wide with his parents and attended fancy parties. At one of these parties, at age ten, he met a pretty blond girl named Cynthia. They hit it off and began seeing each other. An avid artist, Pegasus painted portrait after portrait of Cynthia. At 17, they were engaged to be married. However, Cynthia contracted a fatal illness and died that same year, leaving Pegasus shattered.

After doing some research, Pegasus traveled to Egypt, in the hope of finding some ancient magic that could reunite him with Cynthia. While there, he witnessed a thief being chased down and caught. In his hands was a pendant with the Eye of Wadjet and tines hanging off it. Intrigued by the item, Pegasus asked the catchers of the thief if he might buy the item off them.

Before he could get any father, he was approached by a young man with piercing blue eyes and a turban on his head. The young man warned Pegasus against flaunting his wealth in this village, which he called Kul Elna. He then told Pegasus that what he sought to heal his heart was not there and that he should leave immediately.

Fascinated, Pegasus followed them secretly to their underground hideout, in which there were more golden items and a large cement gate with the Eye of Wadjet on it. He was caught and forced to kneel. The young man approached Pegasus with a golden eye and told him that he must undergo a trial with it. He shoved the eye into Pegasus' left eye socket, putting out the eye. To their surprise, the eye accepted Pegasus. Because Pegasus passed the test, the gate opened up, revealing a great white light. Out of that light came Cynthia. Pegasus was able to hug his beloved. However, it was only for a few seconds, and then she was gone again.

From that day forward, Pegasus became obsessed with reuniting with Cynthia. He created the game of Duel Monsters and wanted to acquire Kaiba Corp to use their 3D technology to recreate his beloved.

Personality: Pegasus comes off as rather fun loving. He loves cartoons, comic books, and games. But if you scratch beneath the surface, you see the underlying grief driving him to the extremes of capturing Sugoroku's soul, just to bait Yugi into dueling with him.

Thoughts: Pegasus is a fascinating character and an example of what can happen to a heart consumed by grief.
